Curling Contractors - recent works

Flood Mitigation Scheme

The summer months were the ideal time to undertake a flood mitigation scheme for an exisitng client in Berkshire. The scope of the works included stripping topsoil and reducing the level of a pddock by an average of 750mm. Topsoil was replaced and re-seeded. Approximately 4000 cubic metres of soil was moved.

Glebe Farm post and rail

We have recently undertaken 2500 linear metres of post and rail fencing at a new private polo yard near Twyford in Berkshire.  This prestigious project uses pressure creosoted softwood timber with rails being chamfered on all sides for safety and aesthetics. 25 gates will also be supplied and hung.

Hickstead Arena

J. Curling Fencing & Agricultural Contractors have built the new 5000 square metre warm up arena at Hickstead. Utilising a Martin Collins Enterprises Ltd base works design and our own “Z-board” arena fence, this prestigious contract was completed on time and to budget.

Slinfold arena and fencing

Having seen the new Polo Arena at the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead completed by us in 2006, the owners of an exciting new dressage facility near Slinfold in West Sussex asked us to supply and construct a 60 x 20m dressage arena and over a thousand metres of post and rail fencing at his new property.  A lunge pen is soon to be added and we have been asked to undertake the construction of this item as well.

Knepp Castle

In the autumn of 2000 we were asked to tender for and were successful in winning the contract for a massive Environmental Stewardship scheme at Knepp Castle Estate in West Sussex.  The scheme’s aim was to return 3000 acres of farmed land back into a deer park.  Some 40,000 linear metres of old farm fencing was removed and vast areas of scrub cleared to make way for 25,000 linear metres of new deer fencing and over 100 gates.  In addition several hundred metres of metal estate railing was supplied and erected along with deer grids and oak palisade fencing.  This project is ongoing and it has been a privilege to be involved so closely with it

EA Boardwalk

In 1999 the Environment Agency undertook the construction of a major flood alleviation scheme running from Eton to Maidenhead in Berkshire.  Working for the main contractor Edmund Nuttall Ltd, we were asked to supply and construct one of the highlights of the scheme, a150m long boardwalk meandering out into the new Jubilee River.  From initial design through, construction to completion we were involved at every stage of this project.  The result is a stunning feature on this unique environmental scheme.

Guards Polo Club. – Fencing and groundworks

We are proud to have been associated with the Guards Polo Club at Smith’s Lawn in the stunning setting of Windsor Great Park since 1998.  Initially supplying electric fencing, our relationship with Guards has developed over almost 10 years to include the supply and construction of all the new pony lines and wash-down areas in use along with all the new fencing seen at the club, including the removable palisade fencing adjacent to ground 1 and finialed palisade alongside the Queen’s pavilion.
